Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 23, 2026
Last updated: July 23, 2026
1. About This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ID Scanner: BarCheck (“BarCheck,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the app.
2. Information Processed by the App
BarCheck may process information contained in supported identification documents, including information encoded in PDF417 barcodes and information visible on the front of an identification card. Depending on the document, this may include:
- Name
- Date of birth and age
- Document number
- Document issue and expiration dates
- Address
- Sex or gender marker
- Height, eye color, and other document fields
- Barcode data and text recognized from the front of the card
This information is processed to provide age verification, document data comparison, mismatch detection, guest-list matching, and related app features.
3. Local and Offline Processing
Identification scanning, barcode reading, text recognition, age calculation, and data comparison are performed locally on the user's device. BarCheck does not transmit scanned identification data or identification images to our servers.
4. Camera Access
BarCheck requests access to the device camera so that users can scan supported identification documents. Camera access is used only to provide scanning and verification features. BarCheck does not upload camera images or scanned identification images to our servers.
5. Information Stored on the Device
Depending on how the app is used, BarCheck may store app settings, scan statistics, and user-created guest-list entries, such as VIP or banned-list records, locally on the device.
Locally stored information remains under the control of the device user and may be removed by deleting entries inside the app, clearing app data where supported, or uninstalling the app.
6. Data Collection
BarCheck does not require users to create an account. We do not collect, sell, rent, or share scanned identification data for advertising, profiling, data brokerage, or cross-app tracking.
BarCheck does not use scanned identification information to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
7. Analytics and Third-Party Services
The current version of BarCheck does not use third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics services to collect scanned identification data.
Apple may independently process limited technical, purchase, diagnostic, or App Store information under Apple's own terms and privacy policies when users download, purchase, or use apps distributed through the App Store. We do not control Apple's processing of that information.
8. Data Sharing
We do not share scanned identification data or identification images with third parties.
We may disclose information only when required to comply with applicable law, a valid legal process, or a binding governmental request. Because scanned identification data is not uploaded to our servers, we generally do not possess that data.
9. Data Retention
We do not retain scanned identification data on our servers. Information stored locally by the app remains on the device until it is deleted by the user, removed through an app feature, or removed when the app is uninstalled, subject to the device's operating system and backup behavior.
10. Security
BarCheck is designed to minimize privacy risk by processing identification information locally. However, no device, software, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting their devices with appropriate security controls and for using the app in accordance with applicable privacy, employment, licensing, and identification-verification laws.
11. Children's Privacy
BarCheck is intended for use by businesses, venue staff, security personnel, and other authorized adult users. The app is not directed to children and is not intended for independent use by children.
12. User Responsibilities
Users must have a lawful basis and appropriate authority to scan or process identification documents. Users are responsible for providing any legally required notices, obtaining any required consent, limiting access to authorized personnel, and complying with applicable laws and regulations.
13. International Use
Privacy, identification, alcohol-service, tobacco-sale, employment, and recordkeeping requirements may vary by country, state, province, or municipality. Users are responsible for determining whether and how the app may lawfully be used in their jurisdiction.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, applicable law, or our practices change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
